I have chosen to work independently because I want to offer one to one support, continuity of carer and more time for my clients. I feel better able to support women and their choices, particularly if they want something which is not supported by their local hospital, like a home VBAC .

Being independent is not about private health care- although we have to charge for our services- it is a standard of care I feel that should be available to everyone- to that end, I, like most independent midwives, will offer a range of options re payment for couples, so that my care is affordable. I also believe my care is good value; the cost is easily comparable to a modest second-hand car or a good holiday!
